Londoners will be able to take a free trip back in time this weekend as vintage buses return to the streets of south west London.
The London Bus Museum is holding its Route 213 Heritage Day on Saturday 13 June 2026, with a fleet of heritage buses operating between Kingston and Sutton Garage. The buses will run between 10am and 5pm and passengers will be able to ride them for free.
The event gives passengers a rare chance to ride vintage London buses on the streets of south west London.
The event marks the long history of route 213, which has operated between Kingston and Sutton since 1921. The route serves areas including Norbiton Station, Coombe Lane, Traps Lane, New Malden, Worcester Park, North Cheam and Cheam.
According to the London Bus Museum, the heritage buses will date mainly from the 1950s to the 1970s and will operate alongside the normal daily service on route 213.
Additional heritage buses are also expected to run on part of route 293 between North Cheam and Epsom, giving enthusiasts and local residents another chance to experience classic London buses in service.

For many passengers, the day will offer a rare chance to ride vehicles from a very different era of London transport, including traditional red buses that once formed part of everyday life across the capital.
The rides are free, although normal TfL services on the same routes will continue to operate as usual and normal fares will apply on those services.
Anyone planning to attend should check the London Bus Museum website before travelling, as vehicle availability and timings may be subject to change.
