The 25-year-old car driver died at the scene, while the 44-year-old N98 bus driver suffered life-changing injuries.
Three men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a 25-year-old man was killed in a collision involving an N98 bus and a car on Honeypot Lane in Stanmore.
The Metropolitan Police said officers were called at 11.58pm on Sunday to reports of a collision between a car and a double-decker bus. The 25-year-old car driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 44-year-old bus driver was taken to hospital with injuries assessed as life-changing.
Images from the scene show extensive damage to the front of the bus and the BMW, with debris scattered across the road.

Two men, aged 25 and 26, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A 51-year-old man was arrested later on suspicion of the same offence.
All three remain in police custody.
London Ambulance Service said it was called at 11.57pm and sent ambulance crews, paramedics in a fast response car, an incident response officer, clinical team manager and its Hazardous Area Response Team.
London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a patient was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We took another patient to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
The N98 runs between Stanmore and central London and is operated by Metroline Travel.
Honeypot Lane was closed at its junction with Cumberland Road while police investigated the collision, with routes 79, 114, 324 and N98 affected.
The Met is appealing for witnesses and particularly wants to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the collision.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 8043/30AUG26, or the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 7960 8044.
Transport for London has confirmed the N98 was in service at the time of the collision, but said no passengers were injured.
A TfL spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the person who was tragically killed following this collision. We are working with the bus operator to support the bus driver, who was unfortunately injured, and we have support available for anyone affected by this tragic incident.
“Safety is our top priority, and we and the bus operator are assisting the police to establish what happened.”
TfL said support is available to anyone affected by the collision through its Sarah Hope Line.
Bus safety campaigner Tom Kearney, who has previously spoken to MyLondon about bus safety concerns, said the collision highlighted the risks faced by bus drivers in London.
“Today’s horrific crash between a car and Route N98 Metroline Bus which resulted in the Bus Driver being rushed to hospital with life-changing injuries, is yet another stark reminder of the criminal danger Bus Drivers face daily as frontline workers on London’s streets.
According to TfL’s published data, eleven bus drivers were sent to hospital in collision events in the first six months of this year, which represents a twenty percent increase upon the number of Bus Drivers who were hospitalised from collisions during the same period in 2025. By instructing TfL to inscribe the Bus Drivers Bill of Rights into TfL’s Framework Bus Contract, the Mayor would finally (a) acknowledge the dangers faced by bus drivers and (b) demonstrate TfL’s and its Bus Contractors’ obligations to ensure safe working conditions for Bus Drivers and to act with candour and respect when things go wrong.”
Metroline have been approached for comment.
