Male patient taken to major trauma centre after collision involving Stagecoach route 275 bus at Walthamstow Bus Station
A pedestrian hit by a bus at Walthamstow Bus Station was taken to a major trauma centre on Tuesday.
London Ambulance Service said it was called at 10.06am on Tuesday to reports of a road traffic collision at the bus station on Selborne Road.
An ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an advanced paramedic attended. The man was treated at the scene before being taken to a major trauma centre “as a priority”.
Transport for London confirmed the collision involved a route 275 bus operated by Stagecoach.
Rosie Trew, TfL’s Head of Bus Service Delivery, said: “We care deeply about the safety of everyone who uses our transport network and our thoughts are with the person who was injured following a collision with a route 275 bus at Walthamstow bus station.
“We’re urgently investigating alongside the operator, Stagecoach, and the police to find out what happened, and we have support for anyone affected by this incident.”
TfL’s Surface Control Centre closed the bus station shortly after the collision, with 18 routes listed as affected by diversions or curtailments.
The bus station had reopened by the time London Bus Forums News arrived at the scene at around 2.35pm.
A member of TfL’s Streetcare team arrived shortly afterwards and was seen photographing the area around the entrance to the bus station. He declined to comment when approached by London Bus Forums News.
Tuesday’s collision comes days before TfL is due to appear in court over alleged safety failures at Walthamstow Bus Station following the death of a pedestrian in 2023.
The Health and Safety Executive is prosecuting TfL over allegations relating to traffic routes at the station’s northern crossing between January 2004 and December 2023.
Grace Mecaley, 74, died after being struck by a route 212 bus at the bus station on 15 December 2023.
TfL is due to make its first appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 25 September.
There is currently no suggestion that Tuesday’s collision is connected to the issues at the centre of the HSE prosecution.

Bus station reopened as TfL Streetcare photographs scene
Walthamstow Bus Station had reopened by the time London Bus Forums News arrived at the scene at around 2.35pm.
A member of TfL’s Streetcare team arrived shortly afterwards and was seen taking photographs of the area around the entrance to the bus station where the collision took place.
We approached the member of staff for information about the incident, but he declined to comment.

Patient taken to major trauma centre
London Ambulance Service has confirmed a patient was taken to a major trauma centre following the incident at Walthamstow Bus Station.
A spokesperson said crews were called at 10.06am to reports of a road traffic collision at the bus station on Selborne Road.
An ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an advanced paramedic were sent to the scene.
The spokesperson said: “We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

Bus station closed after emergency services incident
TfL’s Surface Control Centre issued an alert to bus operators at 10.10am saying Walthamstow Bus Station had been closed due to an “emergency services incident”.
The routes listed as affected were the 20, 34, 55, 69, 212, 215, 230, 257, 275, N26, N38, N73, SL1, SL2, W11, W12, W15 and W19.
Several services were curtailed or diverted away from the station.

Pedestrian reported hit by bus
London Bus Forums News understands a pedestrian has been hit by a bus at Walthamstow Bus Station.
The person’s condition has not yet been confirmed and details surrounding the collision remain unclear.
Emergency services have been approached for further information.
