Transport for London is offering free cycle hire every Sunday in August 2025, and for the first time this includes Santander e-bikes. The Cycle Sundays scheme allows anyone to claim a free day pass covering unlimited 60 minute rides on any given Sunday. Until now, the promotion applied only to pedal bikes, but e-bikes are now eligible under the same offer.

Each Sunday has its own promo code that must be entered via the Santander Cycles app or at a terminal when hiring a bike:

  • 3 August – CYCLESUNDAYS03

  • 10 August – CYCLESUNDAYS10

  • 17 August – CYCLESUNDAYS17

  • 24 August – CYCLESUNDAYS24

  • 31 August – CYCLESUNDAYS31

Riders can take as many trips as they like throughout the day, so long as each ride lasts under 60 minutes. If a ride exceeds the hour mark, extra charges apply.

The addition of e-bikes makes this offer more attractive for longer trips or for those who prefer less physical strain. The e-bikes can only be hired through the app or with a membership key, not at the terminal.

Terms and Conditions

  • This promotion can be withdrawn at any time
  • Offer can be redeemed between 00:00 and 23:59 on each Sunday
  • The offer is not available for existing annual or monthly Santander Cycles subscribers, or any customer with a pending access period
  • Cycles must be docked within 60 minutes to avoid charges
  • Rides longer than 60 minutes are £1.65 for each additional 60 minutes on pedal bikes
  • Offer includes e-bikes. For e-bike rides longer than 60 minutes, pay £3 for an additional 60 minutes. E-bikes can only be hired from the mobile app or with a membership key
  • Redeemer must be aged 18 or over
  • Must agree to the Santander Cycles user terms and conditions
